‍When super began, industry funds knew they could do more, help more people, and be stronger – together. They were determined to approach super differently, asking what they could do for their members rather than what they could get from them. With their unique profits-to-members approach, they pushed for new ways to help working Australians save for a more secure retirement.

IFS began in 1994 to help make these changes possible. We pioneered commission-free financial advice, and established Australia’s first unpaid super recovery program to help Australians get the super they earned. And we worked tirelessly to reunite millions of Australians with their lost super accounts. Since then, IFS has grown and evolved – as have our partner funds. But one thing remains unchanged. Our commitment to our values and our purpose, to help Australians retire with security and dignity.
